Lunar New Year is the longest holiday in China. Many factories and suppliers close for one to several weeks around it, and workers travel home. Shipping demand also rises just before the break.
What usually happens. Suppliers finish orders earlier than usual, warehouses get busy, and space on ships and flights tightens. After the holiday, production restarts gradually, so deliveries from factories can run late.
What you can do. – Place orders with suppliers several weeks before the holiday. – Ask suppliers for their closing and reopening dates. – Book your shipment early so space is secured. – If stock is urgent, consider sending part of the order by air and the rest by sea.
